Let’s face it…we all judge books by their covers. Your cover design IS what sells your book. If a cover strikes us as generic, cookie-cutter, bland, unprofessional, or low-quality overall, we’re not going to pick up that book and learn more.
Seriously…it doesn’t matter how great that book is – if the cover design is off, it won’t even make it off the shelf.
To set your book up for success, you need a strong, eye-catching cover design that’s optimized to attract your ideal audience and aligned with your overall mission…
So when one of our book launch clients, Jacopo Iasiello, shared the book cover for his forthcoming book and our team observed that it felt misaligned with his mission, we immediately asked if he’d be open to experimenting with the design.
While we liked the color, fonts, and what the graphic represented, the cartoony feel of the graphic and the cloud shape at the bottom just felt incongruent with the book itself, which is packed with timeless, high-level wisdom.
Because we’re so confident in the work of our talented designers, we offered to redesign the cover at NO risk to Jacopo – if he didn’t feel aligned with the new design concepts, we would not bill for those hours.
And just like we’d hoped, Jacopo responded with a resounding YES!
New Cover Concepts
We got to work, and Brandon, one of our incredible graphic designers here at NGNG, crafted four stunning new cover concepts for Jacopo’s consideration:
When we shared these new designs with Jacopo and his team, we advised him to share the new concepts and original cover design with his following and survey which design resonated most strongly with his audience. The results revealed a clear winner, which just so happened to be Jacopo’s #1 favorite (and MINE TOO! 🎉)
What I appreciate about the winning cover is that it’s very aesthetically pleasing and well-balanced, modern, inviting, professional, creative, and original. It is much more Jacopo (how I see him). And it’s going to make for a knockout book sales page design and other supporting marketing assets too! 🙂
You’ve worked TOO HARD on your book to have a poor cover design stand in the way of sharing your powerful message with the world. Investing in a great cover design is investing in the success of not only your book, but your entire business.
If you want a book cover that makes you proud to promote your book, the NGNG team is standing by to help. 🙂
