Setting ‘Effective’ Goals is Easier Than You Think

Tell me if this sounds familiar: Just before the new year, you’re SO excited for a fresh start. You make resolutions that you swear you’ll stick to. You promise yourself that this year will be different. Then the new year rolls around and in no time at all (I’m talking before January ends!) your motivation fades, excuses pop up, and those goals start collecting dust.

Why is that!?

It’s because we set too many goals all at once and collapse under the pressure, or we set unrealistic goals and collapse under pressure. (See the pattern?)

The thing is, we often think we can do waaay more than we actually can… so start with less than you think you can take on (note: this does NOT mean setting the bar low!).

Being realistic is the key to success.

Your goals should be an attainable benchmark that you’d be truly proud to achieve… that you can also try your hardest to exceed.

For example, if you’re planning to host your first webinar, you might set a goal of having 50 people attend.

Sure, some seasoned gurus may host 500-person webinars, but that would be a huuuge goal to set off the bat (and most likely be setting yourself up for equally as huge disappointment).

By setting an attainable goal that still pushes you out of your comfort zone, you set yourself up for success. AND if say, 75 people attend, you’ll be able to bask in that excitement and use it as momentum to push forward and gain even more attendees next time!!

Today, I encourage you to really consider the goals you’ve set for yourself (large and small!) and contemplate if there’s anything you can adjust to reduce the pressure.

Remember that your masterpiece is finished one brushstroke at a time.

You don’t have to do it all or achieve your biggest dreams at this exact moment. You’ll be MUCH more likely to see your goals through, achieve your dreams, and feel waaay happier without that added weight on your shoulders!

What are your goals for 2023 (and have they changed after reading this)? Click here and let me know – I’d love to hear from you!
